MELTDOWN

R. E. Todaro

He waits for the season's first snow

Locked miserably in his room

It's been a long week

And there's still more to come

If he doesn't get some sleep

Then he'll be done

His bone's getting weak

Can no longer run

All work, no play

No time for fun

He's breaking down

He's over-worked

But still he's pushing himself

Beyond his limits

Tension is the fuel

Fear is the energy

It's time to take things out of gear

Tension is the fuel

Fear is the energy

It's time he sets himself straight

Unconscious

Buried in the pillow

He's late

Internal clock's broken

He missed the train

It left the station a lifetime ago

So close to the dream will he ever recover?

So close to the dream or is he out of steam?

He can't find a cure

He can't find a lover

He's lost it all and now he suffers

A breakdown of the body

A meltdown of the mind

Walking the world

Walking it blind

Searching the whole world

Looking for a sign

Can't find it now and he's running out of time
